Description
“BABEL” light tower is a complex composition created by entrepreneur Miltos Kambourides and architect Kate Karagianni. It emerges from the floor towards the ceiling, as the babel tower tried to reach the sky. Its 2.50m high imposing construction consists of a 3D grid that gradually degrades towards the top. Every fragment of the grid is 7.5cm x 7.5cm and varies in height. Its geometrical complexity is emphasized by the use of different materials that blend harmoniously in a polymorphic outcome. The modules of this 3D grid, are made out of Volakas marble, walnut wood and metal chrome. The metal chrome parts are the ones carrying the light source which reflects on the surfaces of the marble and wood. The subtle and delicate lighting outcome enriches the rigorous geometry with a playful aspect.
