Seeds – transcending matter and rich symbols of life, death, and transmutation through space & time- formed the intellectual starting point through which Block722 & Maru Meleniou envisioned their new collection of bespoke ceramic artworks.
The extinction of plant species across the Mediterranean basin is not a recent phenomenon but a longstanding issue that has been shaped by human interaction with the environment over millennia. Human actions have altered habitats, disrupted ecosystems, and led to the loss of native species.
The resurface of Silphium a plant highly coveted by ancient Greeks and Romans and long thought to be extinct, offers hope that other endangered species in the Mediterranean may also still have a chance of recovery.
